Year One

“Look for the good, never the bad.
The beauty, not the flaws.
Be careful what you wish for.
Don’t wish harm on others, no matter how much you think they have hurt or offended you.
Don’t hate anyone.
Instead, try to understand them.

Saychology 101. Good advice, repeated over and over again.”

-Repairing Rainbows, Lynda Fishman

Starbucks says they are going to start putting religious quotes on cups.
The very first one will say, ‘Jesus! This cup is expensive!’
-Conan O’Brien

A few weeks ago I realized I love the hot chocolate here a lot more than Tim Horton’s.

Uh-oh.

Met up w/ a few friends from High School here. It was truly odd to be here with them.

Hundreds of miles away from where we first met.

“This was the place where everyone came. We had a game room with a pool table. Sometimes kids would be here for two or three days before we had to send them home.”
-Rob Marvelle

What a fun activity to photograph!

The past few days an old friend from High School was visiting. Went to play pool after the longest time.

He gave me an idea of for a new set.

Pictures coming soon.

Day 174, Water, originally uploaded by asadc.

“Don’t you realize that the ocean is the home of water? All water is off on a journey unless it’s in the ocean, and it’s homesick, and bound to make its way home someday.”
-Zora Hurston

How I feel about where I will end up in life. Inspired by water. The lights looked neat.

“My life is very exciting now. Nostalgia for what? It’s like climbing a staircase. I’m on the top of the staircase, I look behind and see the steps. That’s where I was. We’re here right now. Tomorrow, we’ll be someplace else. So why nostalgia?”
-Jeanne Moreau

A late night at the library.
I liked this along with a few more that will go in my “Project 365 highlights” album.

Day 172.0, Master Squirrel, originally uploaded by asadc.

Project 365.172.0

“If we had a keen vision of all that is ordinary in human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow or the squirrel’s heart beat, and we should die of that roar which is the other side of silence.”
-George Eliot

I call him Cody.
He won the staring contest this time.

He doesn’t look too suspicious in this picture but he generally scares me when I’m walking outside my building by “popping” up.

He also likes to eat carrots and props them up so they look like cigars.

Don’t fear the robots.
Fear the squirrels.
(in Kingston anyways.)

“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.”
-Chinese Proverb

Pictured in this, is one of my best friend’s at University.
This was shot before Physics class started.
I have taken a lot of pictures in this class.
Mostly of experiments.
The professor is hilarious, eccentric and quite comfortable with me taking notes with the camera at the ready.

I will be shooting in B&W the next few days as a “challenge”.
Pictures are much harder to compose in B&W.

I’m off to go running after a rather long time.

Day 167.5, Monopoly, originally uploaded by asadc.

Project 365.167.5

“You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.”
-Desmond Tutu

Got caught up playing Monopoly with my younger brothers yesterday.

I had a lot of work to get through, but I’m glad I spared the time. Got some really nice pictures. (of them and the board.)

Family memories are the best.
Especially if a photographer documents them through the years. (Generally my dad.)
